Treasured Pearls

Once you come through [the] process, you too are as beautiful as a lustrous pearl.

From the Smith’s Bible Dictionary, included at www.blueletterbible.org we learn that pearls “were considered by the ancients among the most precious of gems and were highly esteemed as ornaments.” The definition of pearl means “a pearl, proverb, or word of great value.”1

Dr. Simmons defines pearls in his TPT footnote to Matthew 7:6 as “symbols of spiritual truths given to us by God and impart lovely pearls of wisdom, which are not to be guarded lightly or shared with those who have their hearts closed.”

As part of an oyster’s defense mechanism, when an irritant, such as sand or a parasite, works its way into an oyster shell, it produces a liquid secretion around the irritant. Layer upon layer of the secretion, called “nacre,” is deposited around the irritant which ultimately forms a beautiful, lustrous pearl.

God also allows certain irritations to enter your life so that you can recognize areas that need to be sanctified. As you work towards holiness with the help of Holy Spirit, He will cover you again and again with His holy anointing. Once you come through that process, you too are as beautiful as a lustrous pearl.

In the “Parables of the Hidden Treasure and an Extraordinary Pearl” (Matthew 13:44–46 TPT), we see Yeshua (the jewel merchant) who gives up all He owns to purchase a very precious and exquisite pearl. YOU are that pearl! Yeshua treasures YOU! He gave up His life to provide you an option of choosing Him for eternity.

Choose Yeshua – the lover of your soul. The greatest love of all is a love that sacrifices all. And this great love is demonstrated when a person sacrifices his life for his friends (John 15:13 TPT).
